THANK YOU~!!! *muacks~~~*

Hey ya'll!
It's such a relief now that Cloudy with a Chance of Wedding Bells a.k.a our wedding banquet in KL is done! I mean, we still have another round in Taiping but at least I don't have too much to worry about now! Phew~!
It was a little bit of a havoc at the wedding when my photographer decided that my wedding was supposed to be the next day and only turned up like 5 minutes before our march-in. Then our whole thing went behind schedule but guests arrived way earlier than what we have expected! And then in a wink, the entire event is done!
I was literally too busy to remember much, let alone enjoy the entire wedding, which is why I'm really looking forward to our video and photos. I however, do hope that those little people we invited and attended the wedding enjoy the wedding as much as we wish they would! :D

Just like the song Something Good from The Sound of Music sings, 'so somewhere in my youth or childhood, I must have done something good...' Because despite all the mess, I had friends and family who helped me through the entire thing. So Before I get back all the photos and can blog about the wedding, I would like to first thank some special people:

1) Lea, Jason and Tze Yang - the three colleagues/friends of mine who initially came earlier for the love for photography, who were then forced to become my life-saving photographers when the official guy didn't turn up. Regardless of the quality of the photos, I really really owe you guys too much!!!

2) Madeleine Thien - the one who was the bride a month before me for not only sharing all the research and info you got with me, but also was the first to call and nudge the photographer when he didn't turn up!

3) Malcolm Wu - my very nervous yet fun emcee who flew all the way from Kuching just for the wedding.

4) Cousin Jan Yi - Although, it was quite expected but still, flying all the way back from Melbourne for the wedding when your finals are coming soon was a big thing for us!!!

5) Jodi - My best friend in Perth back then, who flew all the way from Melbourne too for the wedding. I hope you have enjoyed the rendezvous with the rest of the mates at the wedding, as well as your trip in KL!

6) Karen - My Maid of Honour (though I didn't have any bridesmaids) who was so pro in handling almost everything at the wedding, from the dress, make-up, event-organising up till socialising with the guests!

7) Ah Kim, Cousins Carina & Tessa - Ah Kim who offered her two lovely daughters to be my flowers girls and made super nice dresses and headbands for them! They were so cute!!!

8) Ducum Tan - My sister and designer who spent entire week before the wedding without much sleep trying to juggle between work and completing stuff for my wedding.

9) Papo, Mamo and Vivian - The family who helped to complete all the stuff needed for the wedding!

And to the rest of you, thank you for coming, the ang pows and gifts!!! I truly hope that it was a fun night for everyone! :D

*Photos are contributed by Lea, Jason, Jan Yi and Wai Quan and were mostly captured from FB. Stay tuned for more photos! *wink~*

Gravity

Cast: Sandra Bullock, George Clooney
Director: Alfonso Cuaron
Synopsis: Two astronauts who survived a damaged Space Shuttle mission, fight for their life as they find their way back to earth.
The Thumb-Up(s): Survival in an island? We had that. Survival in a locked room? We had that. Survival in the Grand Canyon. We had that. But survival in space? Totally new! I give full credits to the movie creator's creativity and efforts in getting the sophisticated space theory interpreted in the movie. Space and astrology lovers will definitely love this one.
The Thumb-Down(s): Despite a lot of rave reviews from professionals and friends, I totally don't get the hoo-haa of the movie. The movie has Sandra Bullock and George Clooney alone and 15 minutes into the movie it becomes Sandra Bullock ALONE. I mean, unless if you are a super fan of her, I bet you don't wanna watch a woman talking to herself trying to float her way here and there just to get back to earth for a good 1 hour plus. Plus, if you don't understand much of the space theory, you probably won't enjoy it much too.
The Verdict: Don't get me wrong cos I really appreciate the creativity of the storyline but man, the movie is FREAKING BORING!!!

Chicken, Cheese and Avocado Sandwich

Hello there!
Remember the last time I shared the Shrimp & Avocado Sandwich recipe? Well, I did a chicken version which pretty much reminds me of my uni days in Curtin University where the library serves this unforgettably delicious Chicken Cheese Avocado Focaccia!
Anyway, I call this a fuss-free recipe because you don't even need to dirty your stove area trying to fry the chicken as we use the toaster oven here! Probably healthier too because no oil was used in this recipe! :)

What you need: Chicken breast cut into slices/strips, bread of any kind, rockets or any kind of vegetables, Avocado, Cheddar cheese or any kind of cheese that can melt easily, butter (I used olive spread), soya sauce, black pepper, sesame oil, Chinese rice wine and some cornflour.

What to do:
1) Put the chicken into a bowl and add in soya sauce, black pepper, sesame oil, Chinese rice wine and cornflour.
2) Mix well and leave it in the fridge for two hours or so.
3) Pre-heat your toaster oven then lay the chicken on the oven tray.

4) Send the chicken into the toaster oven for about 10-15 minutes or until they are cooked.
5) Remove the chicken and set aside.
6) Spread butter (I use olive spread) onto bread.
7) Now put some rockets (or any other green veg) on one side of the bread.
8) Lay the chicken slices on top.
9) Top that up with some sliced avocado.
10) Now put the cheese on top of everything.
11) Cover with another slice of the bread and put the sandwich onto a sandwich maker.
12) Toast carefully for about 1 minute or less each side to avoid them being burnt.
13) Remove and you can now enjoy your yummy sandwich!

This is making me hungry!!!
What I really like about the sandwich is that the combination of the chicken, cheese and avocado are so awesomely perfect! You get a little savoury and a touch of creamy sweet all together in one go! And because I added cornflour, the normally tough chicken breast became quite tender! Would like to try using other cheese next time though because I find Cheddar a bit too dry. Mozzarella might be a good idea! :)
Love how sandwich can go so creative! Happy trying guys! :D

Coffee, Anyone?

I was banned from drinking coffee since very young, but have recently grown into loving coffee more and more. Honestly I'm not really sure if that's entirely a good thing, ha!
Well, with cafes being the latest trend in KL, I've stepped my foot into most of them so far, trying out their coffees one by one and am now ready to share my views on them. Note, though, that I wouldn't say I'm a coffee expert because I'm really just a coffee lover who still enjoy my coffee with milk and dash of sugar. Hence, this review is purely based on personal opinion!
So here we go!

Coffea Coffee
Our first visit with Little Jolie at the Telawi branch my my cup of Caramel Macchiato.
Branches: Jalan Telawi Bangsar, SS15 Subang Jaya with new outlets coming up in Sunway Pyramid and The Curve
The Coffee: To me, they have the best Caramel Macchiato of all. Very smooth and the caramel isn't too sweet as well. Latte and Cappuccino aren't too bad too. They have a hot seller in the Peanut Butter Latte which I feel it's really just like Milo or Ovaltine, not too special yet it's a good choice when you are sick of any other usual coffees. Overall, they also have the best variety of coffee for you to choose from.
The Service: So far, I've only encountered really friendly staff. Thankfully they only hire staff who speak good English and that's a very good plus point.
The Atmosphere: The branch at SS15 is way better than the one at Bangsar basically because their smoking area is upstairs so you won't get the smoke smell so easily. Nevertheless, both outlets annoy me all the time with the choice and volume of its music played. I've noticed a few times when the crowd become crazy, they tend to turn on the volume more, hoping to chase us away so people can have our table. Really, that sucks BIG TIME!!!
The Price: Slightly on a higher range
Peanut Butter Latte (hot and cold) and me sipping my coffee!
Verdict: Great service, nice coffee but lousy atmosphere. 3.5 out of 5

Coffee Societe
Different branches, same great Latte! :)
Branches: Publika and Garage 51 by Coffee Societe at PJS11, Sunway
The Coffee: Have only tried their Latte and Cappuccino so far and I definitely love them! Smooth coffee with very nice aroma. Certainly one of my top choices.
The Service: Nothing fantastic yet no bad experience yet so far.
The Atmosphere: Pretty quiet with relaxing atmosphere but it would be great if their outlets can be extended a little bit more because all their outlets are quite small actually.
The Price: Very affordable with a cup of Latte or Cappuccino priced at RM7.90 each! ME LOVE!!! :D
Coffee made with lots of love.
Verdict: Certainly one of THE BEST!!! Plus, they serve very delicious comfort food too! 4.5 out of 5
*My earlier review here.

Whisk
One of my favourite coffee places when I'm out with my bestie, Karen!
Branches: Empire Shopping Gallery Subang and 1Utama
The Coffee: Certainly smells damn good that you can constantly smell them from far. Their Latte is definitely one of the best I've ever tried. Tried their signature Mochacinno Con La Nutella once and am a big fan of it (just avoid ordering it since Nutella can be very fattening). It's really something very unique that you can enjoy coffee while noming the sinful Nutella at the same time! Pretty perfect if you ask me!
The Service: I reckon the service at Empire is friendlier than those at 1Utama, hands down!
The Atmosphere: 1Utama's branch is definitely a better choice in this area because it is quite secluded with bigger space, hence very quiet and comfy to hang-out at.
The Price: Also slightly on a higher range.
Verdict: Very casual cafe with awesome coffee (and cakes perhaps, if you love butter cakes cos I hate them). 3.5 out of 5

Artisan Roast
Rugged design and deco with lovely and cosy seats!
Branches: HQ at Seksyen 13, TTDI and Bangsar Village II
The Coffee: I would say their coffee are above average, especially for real coffee lovers as their Latte and Cappuccino have heavier coffee flavour than milk. They focus a lot on the quality of the coffee I guess, since they do not have their coffee with some fancy syrups, or perhaps not yet. And their ice coffee still come in a small glass!
The Service: I've only been to the HQ and so far they are OK, although not fantastic.
The Atmosphere: My favourite of all! The HQ is spacious, quiet and has great choice of music. Chairs and pillow are so cozy I keep on telling people I can stay there for one whole day!
The price: Also slightly on a higher range.
My favourite coffee hang-out place!!!
Verdict: While personally I still prefer my Latte to have lighter coffee flavour, the cafe is a must-visit just because of its great atmosphere! I'm super in love!!! 4.5 out of 5

Really just personal views, so what about you? Which is your favourite?

Best Roast Chicken @ Chan Meng Kee Noodle House, SS2

The truth is, I don't even like Wanton Mee in KL, mostly because I still prefer the ones in Taiping, like the one at Aulong, so springy!
The truth no.2 is, this was not my first visit to Chan Meng Kee, but it was this time that we tried something new that I decided to blog about it!
It was just a usual weekend where we waited for quite some time for our food to be served, which is very normal because the crowd there is forever that crazy on weekends. Out of curiosity though, I ordered my Wanton Mee to go with braised beef while Deardo sticks to his usual. We ordered a portion of Soup Wanton and gave in to the server's recommendation of roast chicken.
Wanton Soup (6 pcs), RM3.
Char Siew Noodle (Big), RM7.
Braised Beef Noodle (Medium), RM6.50.
While I'm not particularly a fan of their noodle itself, especially when it is often super oily, their toppings are always awesome. The roast pork is a must try, the Char Siew is in my opinion, second best after Toast & Roast and obviously I love their braised beef, which come in this nice aroma and few generous portions of innards too! The wanton however, were just average.
Roast Chicken Leg, RM11.
But the star of the restaurant has to be the roast chicken! You know after ordering the chicken we sort of regretted it because we found out it is freaking RM11!!! But everything changed as soon as the plate of chicken was served to our table and we took the first bite! Ohhhhh.... Mama Mia~!!! How can the skin be so crispy??? And because it always comes in quarter chicken (chicken leg), the meat is so tender and juicy and I don't know how come all this while I didn't know about this super delicious chicken!!! That got to be by far the best roast chicken I've ever tried! Hands down!!!
Happy foodies~!!! Wheee~!!!
We were really happy and we have since visited the place a few more times and have never missed ordering the roast chicken!
They also serve curry noodles and other noodles, if you are not a fan of Wanton Mee. Really, the shop isn't famous and crowded for no reason, so do give it a try one day! :)

We're the Millers

Cast: Jennifer Aniston, Jason Sudeikis, Emma Roberts, Will Poulter
Director: Rawson Marshall Thurber
Synopsis: David Clark, a drug dealer, has been forced to bring drugs all the way from Mexico with an RV. Realising it would be too risky for him alone to do the job, he brings in stripper Rose, geek Kenny and runaway girl Casey to act as the Millers family on a road trip to Mexico...
The Thumb-Up(s): It is a very carefully penned comedy with loads of details and interestingly serious/adventurous storyline that will keep you awake all the time. The jokes are also not lame and to me personally, quite realistic. There is a significantly distinctive characters in every single roles in the movie, even those who only appeared for few minutes. Best of all, the movie found the right cast members who portrayed their characters perfectly! Oh yea, very cute and nice soundtracks too! :)
The Thumb-Down(s): Well, some parts of the movie can be not-so-logical but really, you care about that so much when it's just a comedy?
The Verdict: A real entertaining and hilarious comedy which I thoroughly enjoyed, although not the best comedy I've seen.
