So we went to Genting AGAIN last Saturday for the Michael Hui Stand Up Comedy II Last Warning许冠文栋笃笑2之最后警告, a show I've been wanting to watch live right in front of my eyes for years! If you get what I was trying to do...
I don't know why but I really love this pic!
Michael Hui is to me, a LEGEND. No thanks to Mamo, I basically grown up watching his movies, together with his two other brothers. But yes, Michael Hui is always my favourite! He is funny just by showing some stupid facial expressions! To me, he is the best Chinese comedian of all! I can totally ignore Stephen Chow but I can never give up watching Michael Hui! And ever since he came to Genting the first time two years ago, I regretted so much for not attending his stand up show and thanks to someone, FINALLY I MADE IT!!! Yay~! :DNo doubt, it was a full house!!!
It was quite a good show to be honest. Though not extremely fantastic, but it was funny and entertaining. Most importantly, way better than Wong Tze Wah's! I think people love his joke for just one reason, very realistic. It's like he talks a lot about what is happening with the society, what you actually see everyday, thus making it easier to relate to those jokes. Can you bloody believe it that he is actually BLOODY 68 years old???
Good show Michael! 偶像就是偶像! Can't wait to watch his coming movie next year!!!
Dinner@Vietnam House, First World, Genting
Before Michael's show, we tried this new restaurant at First World. Ya know I'm always a fan of Vietnamese food! Hehehehe...Quite a nice-looking restaurant lar...
Can't wait for my food to arrive!!!
So we sat down and ordered a Vietnamese Beef Noodles, a Vietnamese Dry Vermicelli and a set of Vietnamese Spring Rolls (2 rolls). We thought the beef noodles and spring rolls were not up to our expectations. The spring rolls especially to me, were too sticky. I'm suspecting it was pre-done long time ago. As for the beef noodles, Pho Hoa at The Curve definitely serves better one! From top: Vietnamese Spring Rolls, Vietnamese Beef Noodles and Vietnamese Dry Noodles.
But our favourite is the Vietnamese Dry Vermicelli. It was the very first time we both tried such thing. Although I thought their vegetables were not cut nicely, hence not very presentable, but the overall taste of the sauce went really well with the noodles. Very refreshing and crispy too in a way, with some cucumber, lettuce and peanuts! And I actually think that was a very healthy dish! I intend to look out for the recipe and try to do that at home one day! :)
And so I think I had great time over that Saturday. Just some nice activities to distress a lil' before returning to reality. You see, here's my to-do-list at work...The problem is, while a lot of them are still without a tick, the list actually goes on and on and is now almost end of a second page of my to-do-list. Sigh... Honestly, I've never felt so frustrated before about not completing my work in my previous jobs. After some months of sleepless nights trying to finish my work, I've actually gave up. I mean, I'm not paid to work from home, anywayz, so WTH??? Of course some times I just still couldn't help, but I'm doing quite well nowadays! :pAaaarrrh.... Actually just to show you a pic with my new hair-cut and new earrings! *winks~*
Let's hope that I have a little more time to complete them while having some time for myself lar!
Cheers everyone~! :)

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
I was very excited about the fourth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean sequel actually, although I was very much disappointed with the previous one. But being a fan of not only the movie, but Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush and! Penelope Cruz!!! I had hope as I watched the movie last weekend.
This time around they go on a journey to search for the Fountain of Youth. In between there were a few challenges as well as a lot more rules to getting the water from the Fountain of Youth. I thought the first half of the movie was a bit boring and I honestly think Johnny Depp's interpretation of Captain Jack Sparrow has gone into a different direction. At least, I feel like his words are clearer! Not a good news actually, I still prefer Captain Jack Sparrow being his original self! The climax of the movie however was at the second half of it, and it was cool enough to excite me. I especially love it so much that Captain Jack Sparrow (couldn't help but keep reminding myself to not forget the 'captain' word) and Captain Barbossa actually joined hands this time around! Perhaps it's because of the change of director in Rob Marshall, the storyline was somehow a more sophisticated one and not as funny as before. A little bit too heavy for a kid to watch, but adults will love it!
Acting wise, I thought Johnny Depp was just so-so. I think it was the Captain Jack Sparrow from the first Pirates of the Caribbean that surprised me the most so far. Geoffrey Rush actually became funnier I think! And I do love Penelope Cruz a lot in the movie! I actually think she is extra sexy every time she curses something in Spanish! Ha!
A well-written storyline, but not as funny or entertaining as the first one. Anywayz, I do think this is the second best one so far, just slightly behind the first one. :)

Deardo's Bday Dinner @ Jake's, Medan Damansara
It's Deardo's birthday today but we had our celebration dinner last night at Jake's Charbroil Steaks Restaurant. My original plan was to bring Deardo to a new place but he was not really keen to make his birthday dinner such big fuss, so we finally decided to go back to a place where we already know their food are good, and that is Jake's, by far the best place to go for steaks! That's us having our own fun before the food came!
Oh yeah! I also finally cut my hair that day! Nice or not???
You gotta love Deardo's t-shirt!!! I love it so much I couldn't help but to buy it for him!!!
Since it was our second visit, I tried a different dish while Deardo being Deardo, stuck with his favourite order. I had the NZ Rack of Lamb while he had the Australian Sirloin. We also had a Crispy Potato Skin to share.Crispy Potato Skin. RM9.90.
NZ Rack of Lamb, RM56.
Australian Sirloin, RM48.90.
I think we both enjoyed our dishes very much! Both were very well done. I especially love the mint bernaise that comes with the lamb rack! Yumzzz... I'm not so much a fan of the Crispy Potato Skin though, perhaps because I was expecting it to be just the skin and the bacon. It turned out to have bacon, onions and capsicums in the potato skin with cheese topping. I didn't like the fact that the bacon, onions and capsicums were so plain and dry.Nom... Nom... Nom... Nom...
Something worth sharing is that I absolutely enjoyed the hospitality at Jake's. Their service are fast, although you can see the entire restaurant being pretty crowded. They have very quick response to stuff or pay a lot of attention to their customers that makes you feel very warm. E.g. when they saw me slurpping my lamb rack with hands, they sent a bowl of water with lemon to our table just for me to clean my hands!A bowl of water with lemon, with a piece of serviette were sent to our table without us asking. :)
So there you go, a satisfying and yummy birthday dinner for the birthday boy! :) It was in fact a great Saturday too! We spent the afternoon shopping for books and clothes with loads of vouchers. I mean, I couldn't even remember when was the last time I bought a book! Well, the truth is, I didn't want to buy any because I simply have no time for a book now, given the crazy work load I have. But wth I had vouchers!!! And my clothes I bought from Parkson were nice and cheap too! I also bought him a perfume as a birthday gift! It's been quite some time since I last had so much of fun shopping! Diamonds are girls' best friend? I rather save the money to buy more stuff. To me, shopping is my best friend! :p
To my dearest Deardo Wong, a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY and you know how much I love you, right? *wink~~~*Pray for only the good things to come for you!!! Muaks~~~!!! Mamo will be saying... Aiyo I also paiseh looking at this photo... :p

Shirlexia's Special Chicken Chop with Mushroom Gravy
So here's another recipe I simply created with whichever ingredients I could find at the supermarket that one fine day.
Ingredients: 2-3 pieces of chicken chops (marinated with soya sauce, pepper and black pepper), long beans, fresh chili, fresh prawns, fresh Shitake mushrooms chopped into small pieces, chopped garlic, a packet of instant mushroom gravy. (ohyea, missing from the picture are some boiled carrots and ham)
What to do?
1) Heat up a frying pan with some oil (olive oil is now cheaper as compared to last time, so choose olive oil for a healthier diet :) ).2) Fry the chicken chop until it is cooked and brownish. Remove and set aside.3) Clean up the pan and heat it up again with some oil. Simmer some chopped garlic, then add in the long bean and prawns.
3) Stir fry until they are all cooked. Do not add any water, but add some wine, black pepper and salt to taste. Remove and set aside.4) Clean up the pan again and heat it up with oil. Simmer some chopped garlic.
5) Add in the Shitake mushrooms and add in 250ml water (amount of water is according to the instructions on the instant gravy packet).
6) When the water started boiling, pour in the mushroom gravy powder. Turn off the fire and stir till the powder dissolve.7) You are almost done now. On a plate, arrange the ham and carrot accordingly. Place the piece of chicken chop over the carrots, pour the mushroom gravy over the chicken chop, then serve the dish with the long beans with prawns as the side.
Ta da............Too big a portion to call it a fine-dining dish but wth... Those small portion ain't enough for us!
It looks sumptious, isn't it?
It wasn't for any special occasions really. It was just that I didn't want to eat any rice or pasta and wanted to try something new! You see, when it comes to cooking, I always love experimenting rather than following a proper recipe! For this one, it wasn't really as good as expected. The chicken was nice, the side was okay but the gravy was a bit of a let down. Perhaps it was the instant gravy. Ah well, it was my fault for not knowing how to make my own gravy! :( But let me tell you, very soon, when I have my own kitchen, I'm soooooooo going to make everything on my own. Make my own gravy, cream soup or even mayonnaise! Making my man happy with my cooking makes me happy too! :)
I know I've said this million times, but once again, I LOVE COOKING~~~!!! :D

Easy & Yummy Toasted Sandwich~:D
This is an absolutely simple recipe inspired by a Delifrance sandwich I used to order a lot when I was a lot younger (I simply skip eating it because it has just gotten too expensive. :p). Since Deardo's sis's has an oven that I love a lot, I've decided to try doing one of my favourite sandwiches at home!
The ingredients? Simple! Few pieces of bread (always opt for wholemeal or wholegrain as they are healthier than white bread), butter, ham ( I used pork ham this time around cos they are bloody yummy!), sliced tomatoes, cheese slices, Mozarella cheese and cracked black pepper.
What to do?
1) On a tray, lay a few pair of bread, according to the number you prefer. Spread butter over the bread evenly.2) Now lay a piece of ham on each pair of the bread. Sprinkle some black pepper over it.
3) Add two slices of tomatoes on each of them.4) Add a slice of cheese on each of them.5) Cover each bread with the other slice of bread. Top it up with some Mozarella Cheese on top of the sandwich.6) Pre-heat the oven at 200c for 5 minutes. Then send your sandwiches into the oven for 10 minutes or until you see the Mozarella Cheese starting to burn a bit. If you are using a toaster oven, you might need lesser time!
And that's all! The whole thing can be done in like what? Less than 20 minutes? It is the simplest snack, or even breakfast you could ever think of!Hmmmm... Salivating yet???
And you know what? It is dangerously delicious too!!! You will surely love the melting cheese that covers the top and the middle of the sandwich! Yummy~~~!!!We had our toasted sandwiches with a cup of fresh ice-blended orange juice! Oh, Mama Mia~!
Try this at home too! I'm pretty sure you will love it too! :)

Movies~!!!
Since I have some time before starting work, let's share some film review on films I watched over last weekend (yea, even until now I feel so lazy to crap about them...).
B+侦探 The Detective 2
Fast 5
Now, for a lot of you guys out there, this is a movie you have been waiting for for quite some time right? But just for your information, this is the first and only Fast & Furious movie I've ever watched in my life!!! Well, you know me, although I'm a fan of action movie, but I've never thought of watching this car-racing kinda movie before dating Deardo Wong.
Anywayz, based on the experienced audience like Deardo Wong, Fast 5 has less cars and car-racing scences, focusing more on its story, which to him looks more like The Italian Job, which to me, actually, is quite good news! I'm totally a person who think even a horror movie should have great story! But honestly speaking, I'm not impress with the story, not especially the cheesy scene where Vin Diesel picked The Rock up, OMG I totally cannot take that!!! The movie started a little boring but I must say in the end when it comes to the climax, I totally enjoyed the car-chasing part and the smart idea of using the vault as their weapon and how they transferred the vault from one car to another. Love every bit of those scenes!
I cannot find any love for the two main characters/actors. But Vin Diesel, The Rock, Gal Gadot (she's HOT!!!), Elsa Pataky (Thor's real life wife!), Sung Kang and many others made the movie fantastic!!!
If you want to talk about robbing money, I suggest The Italian Job or the Ocean's sequels. If you want to talk about action movie, Fast 5 is also not there yet. But yes, it is entertaining and it's something that even a not-so-car-lover would enjoy.
And... Why is everybody making movies in Rio de Janeiro??? Makes me wanna go there so badly now!!!
P/S: Can't wait any longer for Pirates of the Carribbean 4!!! And it's next week!!!

Thor
Another Marvel comic-turn film which I watched because of Deardo Wong.
Thor is of course about the God of Thunder, and how he learned his lesson when his dad exiles him to earth where he met and fell in love with a human, and of course you know it is a happy ending for Thor lar. Surprisingly I thought the story was okay, and the fact that Thor landed on earth made the movie a bit more interesting and funny too. I especially love the entire graphic design of the movie! Especially the architecture of the buildings! I don't like how they deliver the love story between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Jane (Natalie Portman) though. It was a bit too cincai, but again it's an action movie lar, what do you expect? I should be feeling lucky that this is not another chessy heroic movie where the hero gave up his life or whatever for a girl okay!
Acting wise, nothing to shout-about lar. I'm pretty sure girls will be going crazy over Chris Hemsworth's body though. But I hate 'the Thor's hairstyle' lor. If you think he looks familiar, I just found out he was one of the country boys from Aussie soap Home and Away (although I never watched it before, but yea there were enough of previews and magazines with him there). Anthony Hopkins made an appearance too, although not a heavy role, but it does make a difference where the hero and the villain characters are not so well-known in Hollywood, maybe not yet?
I think it's not to bad a movie really! But hey The Avengers next year will be cooler I think! :)

Awesome Standing Chicken @ LYJ, Sungai Buloh
I know, I know it's probably a crime to blog so frequent. But man this long weekend is probably one of the few weekends that I am so free staying at home doing nothing other than sleeping, eating and blogging! In stead of saying it's boring staying at home, I say hey that's a good thing before I get busy again! :)Very unlikely you will find it easy to find this restaurant.
Remember my Easter breaky and lunch posts? The same night we had a sumptious dinner too! Many thanks to 3e's recommendation, we drove all the way deep into Sungai Buloh, passing by some industry area, to Restaurant LYJ Sdn. Bhd. (don't play play, people has 'Sdn. Bhd.' title ok!). The restaurant looks rather like a normal Chinese restaurant, but definitely a VERY CROWDED one.
While you are not allowed to book a table beforehand (yes and for that we waited for our table for about 20 minutes), you MUST PRE-BOOK some of the dishes on the menu, namely their famous Standing Chicken and Char Siew (BBQ Pork) and probably some other dishes that I might not know.
Now here are a list of dishes we had that night...A very special cold Paku vege salad.
Stir-fried Kailan with Yam.
Some Tofu with Pumpkin.
Fish with some sweet and spicy sauce with some petai too! Yay~! Petai~!
Stir-fried pork with Lady's Fingers.
Char Siew (BBQ Pork).
Last but the most important... The very famous Standing Chicken!!!
My apology for the bad quality of the pictures because we were all busy eating the Standing Chicken with hands! Can't do much with the camera at the same time!
Eating with hands? Oh yeah... We were given a packet of plastic gloves to put on and all you need to do is to pinch all the meat out of the chicken! Like this...Hmmm... Papo looks like he was 'yam si-ing'... LOL!
Let me assure you that 3e is the champion for her expression in these pictures!
See... Match that expression if you can!
I don't know what was that for... ==|||
Yeap, Jan Yi and Ducum made sure that the chicken were all gone!
Like they've never eaten a chicken for ages...While we all looked with amazement...
Honestly, at first I thought the Standing Chicken was just a gimmick to attract customers and that the taste may not be good. But man that chicken was delicious! I think making the Chicken stand actually makes a difference. With all the oil dripping down on the plate, the chicken skin remains crispy and well I must say the chicken meat was pretty smooth too! Pefecto~! Plus, what a way to enjoy roasted chicken! Looking at those pictures, you probably know we all enjoyed the chicken a lot!
The other dishes were yummy and unique too! I mean, Kailan with Yam, Stir-fried Pork with Lady's Fingers, Tofu with Pumpkin, etc, pretty odd, right?
Now for 12 persons, 9 dishes (including two whole chicken), the bill came up to only RM240! That is like 20 bucks per person! Man this is the one restaurant that I would label it as 'GOOD AND CHEAP'~! :D
But 3e was right, we shouldn't promote it so much, otherwise the restaurant will become more famous and the price will be increased!
So... YOU DID NOT READ THIS REVIEW POST!!!

:p
