Up North with TRC

Yeah~ Korean exam is done~! Phew~!
Finally! Finally I have time to crap about this weekend trip we did last weekend!
Deardo and a few of his car lovers friends have this club called 'TRC' formed and they sometimes do convoy to places. A convoy here would means everybody goes on their own car without sharing cars, and they would go on the road in one line... Confusing? Ah never mind, I don't understand it too... It's just too 'ungreen' I actually think it is a lousy idea! Imagine, we had 7 cars the other day, how much petrol needed and how much of bad air the cars had pumped out? My Korean teacher recently told me that my bf is cute (as in comel)! What say you huh? :p

Anywayz, I just followed as a gf lor... Luckily there wasn't any traffic jam although it was a public holiday! Our first destination was the very famous Pun Chan Restaurant at Bidor.

Late breakfast @ Pun Chan RestaurantAs I stepped into the restaurant, I knew I've actually came here before. The biscuits stall and the petai sellers at the side of the restaurant just reminded me that I've been here before like long long time ago when I wasn't old enough to even notice this is a famous restaurant.
Anywayz, waited for a while for a table, and then another while for the famous duck drumstick noodles to arrive. This is taken when we were still waiting for a table...

That's my dry noodles with the duck drumstick soup.
And deardo had the soup one.
Well I think the meal is worth the wait. The soup especially is very yummy with quite a heavy herbal taste in it. Only complaint would be the portion of the noodles being a bit too small.

After the very late breakfast (it was already around 11am when we left Bidor), we went straight all the way to Auto City, Seberang Perai. For???? Ha, solely for photo taking... Of the cars...Ta da, the very ungreen gang of cars... Ironically it was a Saturday, supposedly a 'no plastic' day in Malaysia!
So we also took a pic with the cars...

By then, all I wanted was to try Tao!!! Too bad it was a group thingy so Tao wasn't in the plan... Aih... Maybe next time... :(

And then off we went to Penang for makan!!! Honestly, makan was the only thing of the trip I was more interested with. And it was a great one since we got to eat the very famous Char Kuey Teow!

Yeap, the red-hat aunty's famous Char Kuey Teow! But hor, there were so many people half of the gang decided not to wait and went opposite for lunch.
But it was no turning back for the other half of us. We waited for about an hour for the famous Char Kuey Teow and while waiting, we had other stuff ordered from around the area. Very weird-looking Curry Mee. Deardo said not too bad.
Penang Popiah... Can't beat the ones from Taiping.

Ice-Kacang is essential for the HOT weather!
I think none of the food really impress me. I think Taiping's very own popiah is still the best while the Fried Oyster omelet (Ochean) is still better in Larut Matang. :p
And then finally...
The Char Kuey Teow that cost us RM7! Ooooh... Look at the HUGE prawns!
Everybody MUST take pic of the precious Char Kuey Teow. RM 7 and one hour of wait!
It's amazing isn't it? I mean the price. It's not really a big portion but yes I guess maybe the humongous 2-3 prawns are enough to charge you that price. What impressed me more is the prawns are so fresh when you bite on them it's like so freaking crispy! And of course, I always love the fact that Penang Char Kuey Teow has Chinese Sausages in it! Yum~!
I'm not quite sure is it worth the price, but it is definitely worth the wait! :D

After lunch, it was another quite a long ride to Batu Ferringgi. I think that's very cute and creative, don't you think so?
Wah, I tell you man, I think my last trip to a beach was way back in 2008! So although Batu Ferringgi beach isn't like a very beautiful beach (at least, not to me), but it was fun enough to see the beach, feel the sand, feel the sea, snap some pics and have a look at the blue blue sky...

Dinner @ Makanan Laut Jeti, Bukit Tambun
Because we were heading back to Taiping for the night, we had our dinner at Bukit Tambun, which was with the gang's speed, about 20 minutes away from Penang. The place looks a bit like Sebatang or Matang. It's a tiny fish village with a number of seafood restaurants for you to choose from. traffic on the tiny road can be very terrible though...Anywayz, it was PC's recommendation at Makanan Laut Jeti. I wasn't the one who made the order so overall I wasn't very happy with the order. There were some dishes that I wouldn't even consider ordering.
But anywayz, here you go...Stir fried Yao Mak. I noticed people around me just love this vege!

Claypot Tofu. This is a no-no.

Yummy Mantis Prawns. RM3 each.

I think the Mantis Prawns were really fresh and yummy. We actually thought we should have ordered more of them in stead of only one for each person. And surprisingly the stir fried Yao Mak was somehow very delicious. I know, it's just vegetables, but I don't know what they added into the dish, it just tastes really nice! The rest of the dishes were just so-so.
But must thank the restaurant for the FREE birthday noodles for Kevin! :)
The bill came up to RM189 something. Still very reasonable for KL-ians like us.

And that was our day trip. After the trip it's just like what Mary said... One word: T.I.R.E.D!

Just came back from Penang and Taiping and fell sick... Looks like I have no choice but to admit I'm old liao... Sigh...
Anywayz, before the trip's post, here's some film reviews...

Killers
I of course expected nothing but plain useless comedy on this one.
Killers opened with the two main characters played by Ashton Kutcher (Spencer) and Katherine Heigl (Jennifer) met and quickly fell in love and got married. Three years later Spencer's ex-boss who had hired him as a killer found him and he got into trouble and that is when Jen found out she married a killer and so the action goes on...
I actually love the twist at the end of the movie, it makes it looks like a smart movie. But the entire movie basically has no climax. The action part isn't good. Plus, it is definitely not funny enough to make it a comedy. It's just totally forgettable.
I wonder when is Katherine Heigl going to get into serious acting. She should be more wiser in picking the right movie to be in lar. But I do think Ashton Kutcher should stay put in being a comedian. My favourite would be Catherine O'Hara, who played Jen's mum. She is totally cute and funny, in a natural way, in this movie!
You can skip this movie if you want to.

飞砂风中转
要不是某人有免费戏票，我想大家都不会想看这部电影吧？
没有带着很大的期望去看这部电影，所以看完了有点惊喜哦！电影的确有点“废”，但是故事还蛮新鲜的，尤其到后面陈小春和郑伊健的计划的部分还蛮有梗的。不过电影前面部分略嫌太长、太闷了。而且我感觉选角有点马虎。
演技部分没有什么特别可聊的，但我特别喜欢余安安的演出。她的角色很夸张，但是她却驾驭得很好，而且每次看到她就要笑出来.......
好的，没什么好说了。不是很好的一部电影，只是比想像中好了。


I actually think there aren't any good movies I want to watch very badly recently...*so boring~*Let's hope that I get to catch some of the movies at the upcoming Japanese Film Festival from June 17~June 21 in GSC KL and June 25~June 27 in Penang.

Dim Sum @ Restoran Ful Lai, Kuchai Lama

I think it's now becoming a trend in Malaysia that Dim Sum isn't necessarily can only be consumed in the morning. Friends around me can simply tell me a full list of restaurants either in KL or in Penang that sells dim sum at night too!Ful Lai Restaurant is located at Kuchai Lama's famous makan area, it is a corner shop right opposite Papa Rich. It is open all day long, but I'm not too sure what day are they close. You will have to figure that out yourself. I've been there a few times and am now officially introducing you guys to this kopitiam-styled Dim Sum place.
Since there were only two of us that night, we didn't order too much of food, yet it was a satisfying dinner.First round...
Recommended #1: Lo Mai Gai.
Recommended #2: Century egg and chicken porridge.
Recommended #3: Har Gao
Most of their Dim Sum are nice Their Har Gao and Siu Mai are both really yummy. I especially love them because their prawns are fresh enough. And the Har Gao's skin is just thin and just nice! I love their Lo Mai Gai a lot too although I wish they have Lap Cheong (Chinese sausages) in it. And their porridge is not too bad too. I reckon they actually add rice wine into it. Thumb-up from Shirlexia!!!
Never to be missed: Deep Fried Prawn Rolls. At the back is Wu Kok. Nice one too!
But my favourite of all is this Deep Fried Prawn Roll or something I'm not sure about the name. It's crispy, the prawns inside are fresh. Trust me, everyone of you should try that out!
One thing I wouldn't recommend is their Cheong Fun, the Fun is just too thick it is just not nice at all.
Their steamed Dim Sum are RM3.20 per dish while the deep fried ones ranges from RM2.60~RM7.00. I wouldn't say very cheap for Kopitiam-styled Dim Sum but based on the quality of the food, I bet you wouldn't mind, right?

My greasy Saturday

Just realized I've just broke my personal record of the most blog posts in a month last month! 22 posts! Should I say bravo??? :p
I might have updated my blog too frequent, but that doesn't mean I'm freaking free. In fact I'm actually pretty busy that is why I have so much to blog about! And mind you, there are already a list of stuff lining up for me~!

This Friday: Probably a catch-up lunch with my batch of Malay ex-colleagues in RTM. (Can't wait to see them again~!)
Saturday, Sunday: Following deardo and his car club friends up North to Penang, and then spend a night in Taiping. Will be back in KL on Sunday.
Next Tuesday or Wednesday: Catching-up with Ah Soo, who had just came back from NZ not long ago, together with Karen. (Let's see how many kgs Ah Soo had put on in NZ... *rub hands~*)
Next Friday: Korean Elementary 2 final exam is on. So have to prepare for it beforehand too!

Phew~ I'm a busy woman!
Well I prefer to be busy than bored till death staying at home actually.
Anywayz, back to the title of the post, let's go back to last Saturday...

Breakfast @ La Bodega, Bangsar
I think it was months ago, deardo went breakfast at La Bodega with his family and I told him he must bring me there one day! You know me, for a breakfast person to miss breakfast at some fancy places like this is just unforgivable! So... I forgave my deardo as he kept his promise and brought be there for breakfast last Saturday~! Oooohhhh yeahhhh~~~!!!Nicey nicey sitting outside the cafe... It would be better if we are not in KL, so freaking HOT!
We both chose the Big Breakfast, only difference was, he had his egg like an omelet while I had mine scramble. My Big Breakfast with scramble egg... See, got mushrooms! My favourite!!!

The breakfast itself is RM22, but as you top up another RM10, you'll get a glass of fruit juice and a cup of hot drink. I was very amazed when the waiter told us you can choose from a choices of fruit juices, and they are all freshly squeeze! And even for coffee you can choose from a variety of them like Latte, Cappuccino, Espresso, etc. And tea too! English tea, Breakfast tea, Earl Grey, etc. Look, normally a set meal always just come with black coffee or black tea, isn't that boring?So I had English Tea to wash away the oil while he had the Cappuccino.
So yea, I'm basically quite happy with the breakfast. Everything on the plate are yummy, except for one thing, I hope the bread can be softer one. But it cost us around RM73 for that freaking breakfast we thought it would be better if we have the breakfast buffet at Pyramid Tower, which is only RM30 per person.
Oh well, it's ok to try out new things! Yummy food, especially! :DShirlexia looking ever excited about the breakfast! Haha...

And then... We paid a short visit to Super Ah Ma at 1U. She looks healthier now. I supposed she already gained back some weight too, which is a good thing!

Supper(?) a.k.a Belated Birthday Party @ A&W, Asia Jaya
Deardo's car club (which is basically made up of he and his few friends who are car lovers) members were celebrating deardo and PC's birthdays with a baked cheese cake Kevin made. I have no idea why they had to choose A&W because every time I go there I feel like I put on at least 1 kg because of my favourite root beer float and onion rings! Ish ish ish...
Anywayz, pictures please~!!! Root beer float is always a must for me whenever I'm at A&W!
PC & Mary enjoying their food as it was still May. They had a month of food festival to celebrate PC's birthday... It sounds so :S to me...
Couldn't help, I still want some onion ring although it was already 10 something at night! Ohyea, and that's deardo! (Almost forgot to talk about him, only remember my onion ring!)

Their birthdays are just one day difference... But you can see a big difference when they take pics!
I always say my deardo looks really cute when he smile like this! (Skipping PC's part... :p)
And they have known each other since they were 13 years old! Wah... Time flies man, they are now 2x years old already! Hahahaha...
