Out of THAT house... (UPDATED)

As mentioned earlier, some disaster happened to me last week. It was a drama which I've gotten really sick of telling people about the story over and over again. So to make it short, it involved us, the tenants of the house, the so called 'landlord' Daniel Tang, some people whom Daniel Tang owed money to and last but not least, some policemen. It was a scary experience. All we could do was hid in the room listening to the fight outside and the policemen questioning them all in the end of the night. Our rooms as we flee that house in one day time...
If you are looking to rent a house or a room in Sunway area, I gotta warn you ONCE AGAIN, when you see the name 'Daniel Tang Cheng Keat' or 'Squarefeet Service Hostel', you better just runaway! Click here to see my entire experience which now unfortunately ended up with some beating-up of people, policemen and we all had to move out right away because of security concern. Of course, if you want to know details of what actually happened, I will happily tell you just so that you don't end up just like us.Some of my stuff as I moved out...
To conclude everything, DANIEL TANG IS OFFICIALLY A VERY SMART CON MAN! NOBODY SHOULD EVER GIVE HIM ANYMORE BUSINESS!!!
Just in case you are already renting a room with him, you better run and stop paying him too!!!

*Updates: Apparently he has now changed his name to continue conning naive people... He is now JERRY TANG!!! OMG you guys should be aware of that name! Whether it's Daniel Tang or Jerry Tang, his full name is TANG CHENG KET!!! Once you see that your landlord has that name you better just move away from that house IMMEDIATELY!!!

P/S: I am thankful that Deardo's sister and BIL are kindhearted enough to let me stay at their house for the time being. So just in case you are worry about me, I'm fine here. :)

Dinner @ Ben's, KLCC

In the very SMART tunnel.
It was a rare Saturday where both Deardo and I didn't need to work. So even though it was raining since morning, we decided to go ahead with our plan of having a day trip in KL. As you've seen in my earlier post, we watched two movies in a day and then proceeded to KLCC for dinner.Posing in front of KLCC after the rain! Phew~! Finally it stopped!
Our original plan was to go to one of our favourite restaurants, California Pizza Kitchen but apparently the one at Fahrenheit is the only California Pizza Kitchen and the one at KLCC has been replaced by a new restaurant called Ben's. Very fancy looking entrance! Nice~!
After much considerations, we decided to give the restaurant a try. Just so you can have a feel of how the restaurant looks like.
Though we both have problem with the Feng Shui of the restaurant. Ok lar, not exactly like we know what's the best Feng Shui lar, it's just that they sort of cover the restaurant up at the front and we thought there were nobody dining in the restaurant but apparently deep inside the shop there were plenty of occupied tables! But I definitely think the deco is cool and the entire atmosphere is very cozy. The simple Aglio Olio.

Deardo ordered the Aglio Olio (RM13.90), I tried the Chicken Mushroom Pie (RM18.90) and we ordered a Fried Calamari (RM14.90) as snack too. I think the Aglio Olio was really just so-so. But the Chicken Mushroom Pie was definitely GOOD! I love the sauce that comes with it and OMG even the salad was fantastic! I especially love the fact that there were so many healthy seeds and nuts in it! They made the salad so crunchy! The Fried Calamari was not too bad, but I love the presentation!
I think for such decent dinner and great dining environment, the price is bloody reasonable! But of course, it's easy to understand they might still in a process of 'testing the water' with the price. But hey if the price stays or doesn't go to high, this place is going to be the right hang-out place for everyone!
As I googled for this restaurant, I found out it's actually under a company named BIG, which also takes care of restaurants like Plan B and Canoodling, which I am actually dying to try very soon!

Rare Movie Marathon

After quite some time, Deardo and I finally had some time to catch-up with some latest movies up at the cinema. It was a very rare movie marathon ever since we both changed jobs and ever since we decided to save a bit on our money. It was fun though, watching three movies in two days! It was actually quite an enjoyable weekend before disaster hit us at the beginning of the week... I shall leave that till my next post as I re-organize myself and am ready to share some of the stories with you guys.
For now it's time for some real movies! Whee~~~!

Rio
It was actually quite random as we chose to watch this movie. I had no idea at all what this movie is all about before watching it!
Now the story about Blu, a blue coloured bird getting lost as a pet at home traveled all the way back to Rio de Janeiro is just pretty normal. But I love the whole flow and humour of the movie. Pretty compact and action-packed. My favourite part has to be the part when Tulio sees Lina in her festival costume and Lionel Richie's Say You Say Me came in, with fire works at the back! Hahahahaha... So funny!
Of course, I love the music in it very much too! Both the Brazilian and the Hip Hop music! While I don't think Jesse Eisenberg did anything fantastic as the voice behind Blu, Anne Hathaway was definitely pretty natural playing Jewel! You should check out Will i.am and Jamie Foxx's voices too! :)
Nice and entertaining movie!

Just Go with It
It is pretty easy to expect what kind of movie you're going to get from a combination of Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler. BUT!!! My honest opinion is, this one is not as stupid or cliche as whatever you're expecting!
I know, I know... The story about a boss and his staff falling in love with each other at the end of the movie is so expected, but hey the entire story was pretty cool lor! The fact that Jennifer Aniston is playing a single mum character where the other girl in the movie is getting more limelight than she herself excites me a lot. I mean, no longer the very common attractive character and no cheesy romantic scenes until somewhere in the end of the movie! I absolutely salute some part of bloody funny scripts! Ha, especially the part where Palmer said her saddest moment in her life was when N'Sync broke-up! OMG made me laughed gao gao!!!
I love Jennifer Aniston in the movie! She is still as stunning as always but she is now portraying herself with better roles, even though still in the same genre of movie. Adam Sandler is just good. I love the two kids in the movie. They were just awesome and most part of the fun of the movie were contributed by them! And don't be surprise to see Nicole Kidman in it! Playing a really not-so-Nicole Kidman role! She was awesome too! And tennis player Andy Roddick made a special appearance too! Remember to check out his necklace! :p
Seriously, this is a MUST WATCH!!!

鬼也笑 The Ghosts Must be Crazy
比起之前的吓到笑，这次电影只有两个故事，而且是出自两个不同导演的作品。
第一个讲述几个老兵在森林里的故事跟之前吓到笑的一样，是我比较不喜欢的那个。笑料是有啦，但是跟第二个故事相交起来感觉整个故事和背后的教训都比较不特别和不明显。第二个故事算比较有头有尾，想带出的讯息也比较明显，而且看得出来李国煌在场景和服装设计都下了少许功夫，虽然它只不过是半部的搞笑鬼片。只是还是嫌某些部分很不logic啦！
还是希望他们的特效可以比较好看一点，不要那么粗俗。
这部，真的不好看。

让子弹飞 Let the Bullets Fly

很少看大陆片的我，却因为这部电影在中国大陆大卖，也因为周润发而看了这部电影。
刚开始的几分钟确实令我犹豫了一下，几个人在吟诗好像很无聊似哩.....但再不过多久动作部分便开始了，之后不管是动作，或是玩strategy的游戏的部分都精彩十足。可以说整部电影很紧凑、很刺激、充满高潮！
其实让子弹飞的故事很简单，甚至有影评人认为很幼稚。一个土匪和一个恶霸的小战争。就看看哪一方聪明、哪一方手脚比较快。但是整个流程却紧凑得来又娱乐性十足。再说，一大堆超美妙、超好玩的对白，让人不禁觉得，表面上明明是很认真、死很多人的电影，怎么却可以那么幽默！
第一次看姜文的戏，还真的很惊喜，每一个动作都潇洒自如，超棒！葛优也更不用说，演骗子演到把我也给骗了，而且那个形象，我还真认不出来是他！周润发的演出也充满喜感，尤其是他演自己的替身的部分，简直就是新鲜啊！刘嘉玲也超自然、超可爱的。还有周韵、胡军、陈坤、张默等大大小小的巨星，即使戏份不多，还是让人留下深刻的印象！所以说，卡士方面就是赞~！:)
好片~！

Sunday Lunch @ d'italiane kitchen, Sunway Giza

For no reason, I'm going to be busy today (it's a Saturday!), and tomorrow is another working day... *yawn~~~* So I guess before I lose all my precious time to work, I shall blog about this restaurant Deardo and I, together with his family went last Sunday for lunch.Basically the restaurant has a very cozy setting, clean but a little smelly (I'm serious, we smelled garbage). Food wise, they have quite a variety of food to choose from. Pizza, pasta, chicken, beef, lamb or seafood dishes, you name it! Even their drink list is long!
Here are what we had that afternoon...Some Baked Portobello Mushroom to share.

Staying true to the Italian cuisine, I ordered the Smoked Salmon Pasta and I actually think it was yummy! I especially love it that they use celery, spinach and tomato to cook the dish! I also tried Deardo's sister's Baked 3 Cheese and honestly, it was bloody good! I'm actually also secretly a cheese lover, but for the body's sake I've been avoiding baked cheese rice, baked cheese pasta and all that stuff. And this pasta tasted like heaven to me!!! :) The baked portobello mushrooms were good too, although I prefer them to be not so burnt. The Seafood Pizza was nice too! Love the crispy pastry and the fresh seafood. And that's us being ignorance of people around us. :p
I think our conclusion is, the pasta and the pizza are overall better than other dishes. I mean look at the chicken, lamb and fish, they all look the same. Same sauce, same presentation and based on our opinion, they all weren't that fantastic. Not especially when the prawns and the fish were not very fresh.
The bill came up to RM300 plus. Still ok I guess, considering the amount of food we had. But quality wise, well... Can be improved!

World Invation, Battle: Los Angeles

It's another movie that is definitely not my cup of tea but I watched it anywayz because of Deardo Wong...
It's obviously another alien-storylined movie, but with a little tweak. Using US Marine as the background persons, from their own stories, up till how they go to war--to fight the aliens. I don't know, I don't watch a lot of alien movies, but at least I think this is such a fresh idea! As compared to Skyline, the entire storyline is pretty cool, no longer those cliche and stupid love story formed in an alien-themed movie and! Thank god! No crappy acting too!
It's an action packed movie which looks more like a war movie rather than an alien movie. Like you are watching Black Hawk Down or something, only this one you see the marines fighting alien, not human. It talks about teamwork and all that, like duh, so not an alien movie lor. I'm not going to talk about the technical stuff because duh I'm not a fan of alien movie effects, or even war movie effects. It is kan cheong and not as gross as those typical alien movies that love to showcase the grossness of the aliens...
So yea, not too bad a movie, surprisingly! :)

Roti Breaky @ Levain, Jalan Delima, Off Jalan Imbi

Deardo's mum was in town again and on a sunny Saturday morning, his BIL brought us all the way near Jalan Imbi, to Levain for breaky. The cafe is a huge one, in a bungalow house with a very cute western deco and nice ambiance. Honestly, judging from its outlook, I was excited. Someone was trying to be funny... *yawn~*
We picked some breads from the bakery section, ordered some drinks, and wanted to order some pasta but they weren't available until 11am (yes we were that early), so we opted for a big breakfast. By the time we looked for a table to sit the cafe was already pretty crowded... Hmmm... I didn't know KL-ains wake up so early on a Saturday! Love the feel of the cafe!
Out of the six types of breads we took, I only tried three. They were all pretty nice! I mean, they all tasted like they are of good quality materials lar. I especially love the Curry Chicken Doughnut. The curry was thick and delicious!
We forgot to take picture of the 'Big Breakfast' cos it was really too small but I think the egg and sausage were damn nice too! See, they don't even look very exciting...*yawn~*
With drinks, the bill came up to RM70 plus, which was like :S to me. I'm a person with 'roti-phobia' because of who else if not Mamo who used to stuff bread to us when we were kids. Man, I hate bread with jam or whatever cream! Nowadays I can only accept very fancy breads, savory ones only too! So I guess that was why Deardo and I, being not-so-sweet and not-so-roti persons didn't enjoy the breaky so much! Er... Not especially with that price where we can already enjoy a breakfast buffet at some fancy hotels... Although! I must admit their breads and the whole atmosphere are good!Deardo looking very bored of the roti breaky... :(
Deardo and I intend to visit Levain again nonetheless, but at night, just to try their pasta!

Childhood memory lunch @ Thean Chun, Ipoh

On the way back to Taiping from Cameron Highlands, Deardo and I decided to have lunch in Ipoh. Well, it could be the typical Dim Sum, but in the end I made the decision to go to Thean Chun Kopitiam for something that I've been missing for some years now.
Thean Chun or in Chinese 天津is a place where my Ah Gong (late Grandpa) used to bring us there for their famous Ipoh Chicken Hor Fun and their unforgettable Creme Castard 炖蛋. Many thanks to the GPS, we managed to find the kopitiam located at Jalan Bandar Timah easily.Unlike those days, the shop has got more choices of food now. They have popiah, beef noodles, Chee Cheong Fun and even pork and pork innards satay! But I made sure I ordered the Chicken Hor Fun that I've missed for such a long time! The still very old-school-looking kopitiam with some old folks working as waiters and waitresses... And me waiting excitedly for my food!
Bring on the REAL Ipoh Chicken Hor Fun baby~!

Well, my verdict? So-so only really. But! I must admit the REAL Ipoh Hor Fun is anyhow tastier than those you find in either KL or Taiping! The thin Hor Fun, the slightly spicy soup and the prawns make such a big difference! The Tau Geh were nicely cooked but then not anything fantastic lar.MY FAVOURITE OF ALL!!!
Now... Although the Hor Fun didn't really amazed me much, the Creme Castard 炖蛋 was absolutely to-die-for!!! So creamy and fresh, while the sweetness also just nice! Yumzzz... Couldn't help but ta pao-ed two of them home! :p Honestly, I've tried this dessert in other kopitiam in Ipoh but the one at Thean Chun is so far THE BEST!!! Remember, these comments come from Shirlexia, who isn't a fan of sweet stuff!
The two bowls of big noodles and tau geh cost us RM12, which is very reasonable while the Creme Castard is RM2.20 each.
Wouldn't mind going back again for that yummy Creme Castard~! :)

Black Swan

Except for some old movies I watched at home, the last movie I watched was Burlesque back in February. As much as I wish to watch a movie in the cinema, time and some other factors have been stopping me to do that. Even this award-winning Black Swan was a movie I watched in Taiping on my lappy.
I've heard so many good reviews about this movie. Yes, it is a very disturbing movie, very tense and you would vividly remember most of those scenes in the movie just because they are disturbing. The story about Nina having all the pressure of dancing as the main character in Swan Lake turned her into a psycho is to me, very realistic and the way it was translated into the movie is somehow very interesting and yes, 'disturbing' is the word.
I like the lighting and the cinematography a lot. But nothing can beat the strong cast! Natalie Portman was awesome and she deserves the Academy Award for that! Vincent Cassel also gave a very unforgettable performance but the one who surprised me and many is Mila Kunis. She looks like she is just the real Lily without acting it out!
Well, to me it is a brilliant piece of art! But it is more to a self-centred movie, which is why I think it didn't win the Best Film at the Oscar. They normally love things that involve whole load of people, like a community, a country, or even the entire world.
