Porky treat @ The Hungry Hog, SS15 Subang

Some time ago a colleague recommended this place which is not far away from our house and I was surprised at myself for not knowing about this restaurant any earlier.
Deardo and I went there for lunch one fine Saturday before we went back to Taiping for CNY. The restaurant is seriously simple but I love the fact that they use random different types of tables and chairs in the restaurant. That's so cute! And I can see the old aunty and uncle chilling out there, whom I assume are either the parents of the owner or the owner themselves.Such a homey place!
It's all about the oink oink oink!
Anywayz, as my post title suggested, it's a restaurant that serve basically nothing but PORK! I'm serious! Their menu, including drinks and desserts are only listed in a 2-page menu and every single dish has pork in it, including one of their desserts that says 'Bacon Ice-Cream'. What I like about the menu is that it has a variety of Western and Asian food. So you can find burgers and pork chops, as well as Thai Pork Rice or even Siew Yok (Roast Pork). So imagine if you love Western food, you can go with your parent who might prefer Asian food! Cool, right?
Siew Yuk, RM11.90.
Porky Chop, RM19.90.
3 Little Pigs, RM15.90.
I didn't like their Siew Yok so much mainly because I think we got the wrong part of the pig lar, it was a bit too fat to my liking. The Porky Chops also seems a little weird because of a weird part of the pig that they used, which I'm obviously unsure which part is it. It was just not pork 'chop'. But me being me, I love the mustard seed gravy that comes with the pork! Our favourite must be their signature 3 Little Pigs (cute name too!) which is a burger which comes with a pork patty, bacon, ham and cheese. It was simple but delicious although I actually think it would taste even better if the ham is grilled or fried too.
And very cute OINKNOUNCEMENT! :)
And very cute customer! :p
Together with two Chinese tea, the bill came up to RM55.80, which is quite cheap actually for that kinda food you are getting. I don't think it's the best pork-based-restaurant I've ever tried, but for small and not too fancy deco, food and cheaper price, The Hungry Hog is quite a good place for especially those pork lovers out there! And there are still so many other dishes to try out!!! I only had like three of them!!!

Wednesday night out~!

Uncle Yip came last night, so we had a night out at Sunway Pyramid. I didn't see him for a long long time but he definitely did not look any different at all! Well I guess he is just all 'geared up' after the holiday in Laos! Kekeke, you know lar... Laos mah! :pOh yea, he got me gifts from Laos too! Yay~!
So, we gave Xian Ding Wei, the latest restaurant to be opened here a try. It's a Taiwanese restaurant! Ohyea, Taiwan! First of all, I must say, I like the design of the restaurant, simple yet quirky. Xian Ding Wei Taiwanese Tea Room, newly opened in Sunway Pyramid.
I also love the design of the menu, or to be accurate, the entire presentation. Why? Simply because they have pictures for every single dish! I always love that kinda menu, you will at least get to look at the pictures before deciding what to order. In the end we ordered quite a lot of food for two person. Luckily the portion wasn't too big. Here's the list of food we had...The very famous Taiwanese sausage.
Lily Bulb Fried with Asparagus, a dish that is too easy to make.
Oyster & Pig's Large Intestines Mee Sua.
Dry Shrimp in Sweet Ferment Rice Wine set meal.
I had my original pearl milk tea while Uncle Yip had the Yam flavour.
Uncle Yippy~~~~~~
I actually think the Oyster Mee Sua, which has pig intestines in it isn't as good as the one we get at the Shilin snack stall. The vege was so-so, the Taiwanese sausage was not the best among what I've tried. The set of Dry Shrimp in Sweet Ferment Rice Wine wasn't really good, I think I'm just being picky because I didn't taste any wine in the dish. But I must say the soup is not too bad! Everything came up to RM70 plus. Well, I would say the food is a bit expensive for the kinda quality, but I reckon their drinks and dessert are at quite a cheap price.
We went for a night movie with the whole gang of crazy Transformer fans... ==||| I just can never understand why people have to watch it like so early? So bloody crowded and it caused us some inconvenience since we had to q-up for tickets and just to enter the cinema! Ggggggrrrrrhhhh... Well, of course, by now you know WE DID NOT watch Transformer...

State of Play
I cannot explain much about the whole story because it's just really quite complicated and has quite a number of twists. All I can say is, it's a smart movie that I really like! I might not understand some of the stuff in between, but then I understand the ending lar! :p
Well, its more like story of how politicians use the media, and how the reporters work and the kinda pressure and problem... Quite interesting lar, especially for an ex-reporter like me! Hehe...
I like Russell Crowe and Rachel McAdams's acting very much. Just nice. But I just can't seems to accept Ben Affleck acting as a politician. To me, he is just still very 'plastic' and his acting isn't great enough to carry the role. Haha, yea you got it, I love Matt Damon to death but I really cannot take Ben Affleck!
Anywayz, good movie!
Gosh I think I will have to skip movie for the next few weeks just to avoid the Transformer crowd!!!:(

然后呢,it's all the way to KL!

A weekend at the Japanese Film Festival, etc...

Hai, kai e ri masu!
Yup, just came home from another Japanese movie, the second and last one I watched on the Japanese Film Festival this year. No, definitely not very happy about that, because I wanted to watch Tony Takitani, Fourteen and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time too but well... Timing not ngam lor... :(
Anywayz, here are the movies I've watched...
Tokyo Tower-Mom & Me, and Sometimes Dad
I almost cried only when watching the trailer, imagine! I was crying like a baby in the cinema!!! It is a... Not to say a sad story you know, it's just really touching. As you can see in the movie title, it's not a love movie, but more to a family movie. It's about an ordinary Japanese guy's relationship with his mother, who is a cheerful and funny mother, who in the end died of cancer. Seriously touching movie that I would recommend you all to watch, especially to the youngster.
Wow, it just made me think of the days I left my parents behind and came to KL for my studies, and the days I had to leave them again for Perth. And the movie definitely made me feel really sad thinking about the day they will be leaving me forever...
Before that, Pa, Mi, I LOVE YOU! MUAKSSSS...

Ten Dark Women
Well, I really don't know how to say this... The story is about 10 women plotting to kill the guy they are dating, and it's a 1961 black and white movie that made me so interested in watching it. I must say it's quite a weird movie, I especially think the ending is like.... What the??? But I somehow feel quite alright to get to watch such an old Japanese film! The main actor and some of the actresses are damn good looking ler!
Yve Vonn, what movies have you watched? Don't forget to update your blog about that!
So that was how I basically spent my weekends, and erm... Unfortunately spent quite a lot on the meals outside, plus the shoppings... Phew~How come I just can't save money properly? Haih... Someone please stop me from spending, someone please control me!!!
Anywayz, here's the ice-cream I want to tell you about. The shop/stall is called Yokomon, of course Japanese ice-cream lor. I don't really know where else you can find it, but I've tried it at the 'La La Land'(sixth floor) at Sunway Pyramid. They have six flavours-green tea, dark chocolate, red bean, rum raisin, black sesame and strawberry. I of course tried the black sesame first and it was sooooo yummy! It tastes 'soooo black sesame', feels like a little bitter, but just a little bit! The thing is, the process of them doing the ice-cream for you is so interesting and that actually means the ice-cream is freshly made in front of you! I'm gonna try the other flavours too! Okay, that's about it. See you next time!

Bom Brazil

I really have to do this before I got really busy.
Finally, I've made my visit to Bom Brazil, the place where Yve Vonn suddenly got into the business. I thought I've never tried Brazilian food before, so let's give it a try, without worrying about the price!
Salad, every woman's good friend~! Seriously, they were real good!
As we arrived, we were welcomed by staffs wearing Brazilian soccer jersey! And their decorations are simple, yet special, the table cloth are of yellow and green, the true Brazilian colours! I told Ah Fa, who went with me, that this place just made me feel like I'm back in Oz. It's like one of the restaurants and cafes at Subi or like the Italian restaurant that I've been to in Melbourne. And they play Brazilian songs as well (okay, maybe that's not but I guess logically it is lar).
Lamb, beef, turkey, chicken, fish... You name it! And I love the potato soup!
So we started with a drink, then the buffet, which was awesome. Although I didn't try the black bean that Yve Vonn later told me was a must in Brazilian food, the various choices of salad were really good! The one with the tuna, the one with the tasty grill vege, the one with the fresh sausages, etc... Both Ah Fa and me agreed they were really good. And then the grill meat(s) came, the beef, lamb, fish, chicken....... Seriously, the chicken was the best one, the sauce they use taste pretty special and it was very tender! But then I really had too much of meat on a single night, I think. Hehehe... A whole lot of tasty meat with calories and fat! Arrrgghhh... Until Yve Vonn came, we realized we missed the free flow soup. So of course we tried the potato soup and I had two bowls, which, you know what I mean.
Thanks to Yve Vonn, we got free cocktail called Caipirinha and the Brazilian dessert, which we also love!Try the cocktail and the Brazilian dessert too!
Not that Yve Vonn is the Marketing Exec there that I'm saying the food are good. I brought Ah Fa there, and the buffet costs RM65, so I was pretty scared that the food was bad. But what a relief that we've had a pretty satisfying buffet dinner! If you don't mind the pricy price, then you really should go and have a try. Although the website is a bit 'back-dated', but at least you have a simple view of the whole thing there. Oh... Remember to ask the boss for the special 'fu-chok yi mai' for dessert! Now you know 'fu-chok yi mai' is from Brazil!
Okay, I hope I don't need to tell which one is Ah Fa, which one is Yve Vonn.

**Gossip of the day... The REAL gossip that made my jaw drop till erm... Somewhere really low... After all the hu-hah... Jess and CK are actually getting married next month! Gosh, when Yve Vonn told me about it, I was like WTF? Anywayz, since they've made it finally, congratulations and all the best!
