Awesome Curry Mee @ Kedai Makanan Ah Loy, OUG

As a loyal reader of KYspeaks, I got excited when I read about this restaurant not too long ago. Knowing that Deardo Wong is a big Curry Mee fan and the fact that there are a wide choices of ingredients to go with the Curry Mee, I finally suggested to visit the restaurant on Thursday night, with his group of CG group members. It was a bad choice to go on a Thursday night since there is Pasar Malam there every Thursdays. We actually had to park the car quite far away and walked to the restaurant.
A look at the menu, I was so tempted to order everything on the menu! I want the Seafood Curry Mee, the Curry Pork Ribs Mee, Assam Laksa, Drunken Chicken Noodles...
In the end, we all settled with...33 had the Curry Chicken Rice.
33's bf had the Curry Pork Ribs Rice, which was pretty good!
We also ordered a big boiled lettuce that comes with loads of sinful pork lard! RM12.
Ricko's Curry Pork Ribs Mee! I'm soooooo going to try this the next time!
Deardo's Curry Chicken Mee.
My not-very-interesting Assam Laksa. :(
At first, Deardo had a Curry Chicken Mee while I had the Assam Laksa (actually wanted a Seafood Curry Noodles but there was a misunderstanding lar). Generally the curry noodles are quite good because of the thick soup. Unlike others that are too watery with a lot of coconut milk, the curry soup here is thick and has less coconut milk, which is totally my cup of tea! :) But according to others, the pork ribs tastes better than the chicken! 33 said the pork ribs is nicely done and is very tender! Okay, keep that in mind for now, next time I'm surely going to try that! As for the Assam Laksa, I don't find it good due to the lack of fish in it.Our favourite of the night must be this Drunken Chicken Noodles! Yummmmzzzz to the maxxxxxxx!!!
We tried KH & Yapp's Drunken Chicken Noodles and found the soup really yummy! FYI, we both are huge fans of food with wine! So after our own bowl of noodles, we decided to share another bowl of Drunken Chicken Noodles and it was oh-so-awesome!!! The wine and the ginger blended really well and the chicken thigh meat, Chinese cabbage and oyster mushrooms added so many points to it! The only down side would be the fact that it only comes with mihoon. I think it will be prefect with some Mien Sin! Us enjoying our awesome dinner!
We all had a really satisfying dinner I must say and I was so glad I didn't bring the gang to the wrong place! I love the variety of ingredients you get to choose to go with your Curry Noodles! Besides what we tried, there is even Curry Fish Head Mee! Prices for those 'special ones' like the Seafood and the Drunken Chicken Mee are RM8, while the normal ones are RM4.50 (small) and RM5 (big). Sounds very reasonable to me! It was certainly a lovely dinner with a satisfying price! :D

What am I doing?

Hello people, the time is 6.37pm and I'm still in the office, waiting for 7.30pm to come to cover an event. So since I have some time to kill, I thought of telling you guys about my new job. Since I've been missing in action from this blog so much lately I think it's only relevant that you know why am I so busy... Am I right?
I'm not going to mention the name of my company nor my position, I can only tell you it's a job that requires loads of writing yet I'm not a journalist. It's also a job that requires me to organize events yet I'm not working in an event management company (I will die if I do). On my first day of work, I wore my new and very pretty looking top from Nichi. I still love that top a lot!
This is my office during Raya time...
We had Merdeka celebration day where we were asked to dress-up in traditional costumes.
I need to work on weekends sometimes. That random Saturday, I brought Ducum along...
And we took loads of nice pictures.... Because my office is actually situated in a bloody nice building with a lake somemore!!! Don't pray pray~!
It has a cool library too... I think this picture makes me look like I'm a model selling my company...
Guess what? This is also taken in the library...
Somewhere in the middle, there is this wall full of nice artsy pictures...
Sometimes I need to dress-up VERY NICELY to play the blotter girl role. And I love that 'role-playing' job! *wink~*
It's been more than a month now. At times the work load is like madness I felt like giving up and look for another job. But at times I thought well, it's really not that bad you know.
I enjoy most part of my job scope to be honest, especially the fact that I'm meeting people and organizing events. I'm coming to realize that although I came from a journalism background and I love blogging so much, I actually hate writing as a job. Ha, ironic but it's just a really painful truth. It's like Papo invested so much on me to study journalism for so many years and I finally found I hate doing it. Okay lar, if only the company I'm in deals with food okay?
Anywayz, before I have enough money to do my own business and be my own boss. You SHOULD wish me luck with my job!

Anywayz, time to go grab some food before it's too late! Bye~!

Very Happy Belated Birthday to Myself!

I wouldn't say I had the best birthday ever in my life, but it was a historic and record-breaking (foo lamak, so dramatic)birthday for myself as I celebrated my birthday with a nice bf by my side for the very first time! *wink~* :)
In fact, it wasn't as romantic or special as expected too, but oh well, many more years to come Deardo will know what to do to not disappoint me again... :p

Birthday Dinner @ Carlos, Pavilion
Knowing me and Deardo, my birthday was basically another feast. It started a night before my birthday. After work we went all the way to Pavilion to have a Mexican dinner at Carlos. We were both pretty tired after a hectic day at work! STILL! It was my birthday! Gotta go celebrate STILL!!!
You may already know, I love everything Mexico. Back in Perth, Jodi would always make some Mexican food to feed me. And I still remember we actually googled for Mexican restaurant in Perth and then made our way there just to find their food sucks big time...
Carlos was recommended by KH, Deardo's friend and we've wanted to go and have a try since months ago. I don't especially fancy the whole deco and atmosphere of the restaurant. Not especially with a lot of Arabian customers enjoying their Sheesha. Deardo's Banana Milkshake and my Chocolate Milkshake.
But boy the food really amazed me!
We ordered the Mexican Potato Skins as a starter and that was my favourite order of the night! The Potato Skins were stuffed with minced beef or chicken of your choice, with melted cheese on top! Sounds very easy to make but man it tasted so good I was so tempted to order another one! The beef especially was very nicely cooked! Taste and portion just good enough to satisfy you!
As for mains, I ordered the Seafood Quesadillas and Deardo had the Sizzling Lime Grilled Chicken. Mine was not too bad, was especially amazed at the freshness of the seafood. Deardo's Chicken with some spices or herbs was not too bad too but the rice itself was a bit of a letdown as it was quite tasteless. Sizzling Lime Grilled Chicken.
Seafood Quesadillas.Yumzzzz... Look at the seafood!
Shit, my receipt went M.I.A, so I can't tell you how much are the food but it was roughly just RM101 for the food with two milk shakes and all the stupid taxes, which was super reasonable okay! I must say Carlos is worth another visit, at least. Love this picture of myself! Absolutely zero make-up but I look like I have Mascara on my lashes and eyeliner on my eyes!

Drinks @ Shook, Starhill Gallery
And then after some walk around KL, we went to Shook, the bar that is situated underneath Starhill which has a lot of fancy and expensive-looking restaurants. Initially we only wanted a place to sit down to kill time as it was too early before it was 12am. But Shook turned out to be a surprisingly nice place to hang out with a surprisingly cheap price!
I had a Virgin Mary while Deardo went for a Madagascar Vanilla Milkshake (I just realized he had two milkshakes in a night ==|||). The drinks came with some nice complementary tit bits too! All for RM37.95, much cheaper than our expectations, really! Us on the very cozy sofa!
With nice Jazz performance you can literally fall asleep there!
Not only that, there were Jazz performance on stage too! The singer really can sing man! How come people like her didn't go audition for those Malaysian Idol or One in a Million competitions? Anywayz, I even shook her hand before I went off telling her I love her voice a lot! :)

Birthday Breakfast @ La Bodega, Bangsar
Ok, so I was actually the one to blamed to ruin Deardo's plan on my birthday. But you gotta pardon me as I can't really reveal the details here. One thing I didn't ruin was the plan to have breakfast at La Bodega.Aiks... Who is this cool guy in the shades???
That is me looking very excited about the butter... ==|||
The last time we came I just fell in love with the breakfast. But because it's not cheap to have the breaky here, only on special occasions like this we would make our way there.Deardo's set lunch which I've totally forgotten what are their names. Damn I hate to blog about things that are so long ago!
Anywayz, I had the same breakfast set while Deardo had their set lunch which was not very special and I would like to say excuse me I don't want to mention too much about the food (actually, you have no choice cos I'm the one typing).
Good thing was, Cat Whiskers is just right opposite and I was a happy birthday girl with two nice black dresses as I walked out from the shop! :p

Birthday Dinner @ New York New York Deli, One Utama
I don't really know why Deardo missed this restaurant so much after the first and only time we went there. Ok lar, since we were already in One Utama, we decided to go back to the restaurant, finally!See how excited my man was looking at his plate of dinner???
I wasn't in a mood to jolt down names of the dishes (and I'm so damn sleepy right now...). So yea... Roughly lar I'll try to name the dishes with my wee bits of memories. The salad (very sleepy already, lazy to think of captions...).
Some spaghetti with the chicken.
Can be called the Shrimps & Chicken Platter, I think.
Shirlexia saying goodnight to ya all~!
I love the something New York New York Caesar Salad. The special dressing was quite nice although I can feel it's very fattening. :S And the chicken in it were yummey~! Our main courses don't need much review lar. They are all just so-so. The chicken especially wasn't very fresh, so yea... Time to ignore this restaurant or stop ordering chicken dishes at the restaurant...

Thanks to everyone of you who had gave me all the birthday wishes on Facebook! I'm amazed this year only my parent and sis sent me birthday wishes through SMS! Either people are growing stingy or Facebook is killing the use of mobile phones! :p
Will update more on my birthday gifts this year... Urm... When I have time.

For now, it's time to go on a date with Mr Chow. Good night! :)

Sorry陈真,我还是prefer叶先生

Hey people! I'm back finally! Not only to my blog, but also to the cinema! Phew~! I felt so abnormal of myself without blogging and movies, really.
OH MAN I MISS YA ALL TOO~~~!!!
I've worked like hell over the past few weeks. Sometimes even had to stay up late or wake up earlier to finish my work... So I'll try to get some time to blog more after this lar ok?
Before everything, here's a short movie review on Legend of the Fist: The return of Chen Zhen.

Lovely Family Reunion

It's been crazy at work I couldn't even believe I'm actually abandoning my work to update my blog! LOL!
It just doesn't feel right to be abandoning my blog all together.

Last week, which is the Raya weekend, Papo, Mamo and Ah Soi (Vivian lar, who else?) came to KL for a short five days trip. I managed to arrange some time to spent with them, although not everyday. It was great hanging-out with them and bringing them around to try food that I always thought of bringing them to!
Since the food are not new anymore to me and my blog, there isn't any food review for this post. I just really want to share some cute photos of the Tan family with you guys! :)

As they arrived in KL on Sunday, Deardo and I brought Vivian all the way to Mid Valley to let her do some shopping. After that we had our coffee break at Austin Chase, The Gardens, a very cozy and nice cafe that I've fallen in love with since the first visit here with Karen. That's my sister, Vivian, whom many said we look very much alike. What say you?
While this is my Deardo Wong trying to imitate me... Grrrrrhhhh...

Just FYI, I actually requested Mamo to come and cook dinner for me with some of my favourite dishes on the list. The more I eat Deardo Wong's mum's cooking, the more I missed Mamo's cooking. I'm just too used to Mamo and Ah Ma's cooking that are often pretty simple, yet unforgettable. :)
So on the same night, my craving for Mamo's cooking were very well answered! FAVOURITE OF THE FAVOURITE!!! Big Bean Sprout with minced pork and prawn! Ah... I'm feeling hungry!!!
Bitter gourd with Black Beans, chicken and prawns! Love this too!
Mamo's signature Steamed Prawn with egg and Tang Hoon. Man this picture is killing me!!!
Dinner was also served with a whole Roasted Duck bought from Taiping and two extra dishes that my 3e cooked.
Even Deardo Wong had to agree Mamo is in deed a silent good cook! She just doesn't want to tell people so that people wouldn't ask her to cook!
Ah yes, I do have a lazy Mamo. :p

And then the next day after work, Deardo and I went to pick them up again and went to TGI Fridays, The Curve for dinner. It was their first TGI visit and I was very very glad that they love the food there! :)The gentlemen surely enjoyed their beer.
While the girls(and yes, that include Mamo) prefer to stay with boring lemonade and hot English tea. LOL!
Ducum Tan where are you? Stucked somewhere in the cinema???
Being the youngest in the family, Vivian is bloody close to Papo and Mamo, as compared to me and Ducum.
And gosh I love the photos taken over there because I looked so slim! :p

The night ended with some famous dessert at Gei Dak Sek, SS2. My parent are so cool they always obey my instructions when posing for photos. Jealous, aren't you???

On the 16th, which was a Malaysian Day public holiday, we had a happy family day out with Ducum around!
We first went to Uncle Seng, SS15 for breakfast. Since the noodles is similar to Wantan noodles in Taiping and since Papo and Ducum love Wantan noodles, I've always wanted to bring them there to try the noodles. I'm glad I finally did! :)Satisfying faces after some yummy, energy-boasting breaky~! Yee~Haaa~~~!!!

And then we went to Sunway Pyramid for more shopping and food...Bought them some Jackfruit flavoured Kindori Japanese ice-cream which was awesome~!
Posing outside the fitting room where Mamo was busy trying out clothes that we picked for her.

For lunch, I brought them all to Ccozi & Friends for Papo and Mamo's first Korean food experience. I love it to take their 'virginity'! LOL! I'm loving my newly-bought studded earrings! They are so bloody cool!
And they say we all look alike! What do you think?
There is a reason why Mamo couldn't smile showing her teeth. But she is going to kill me if I tell you the reason. She always think 'the whole world' will know about her embarrassing stories once I posted them up in my blog. LOL!
My lovely Papo whom I was always concern about him being bored shopping with us!
Mamo was so excited to try Kimchi but the sourness made this picture so damn funny~!
Nom nom nom~~~

And finally before saying goodbye, we went back to SS15 for some nice Taiwanese dessert at Snowflake! Ducum and Shirlexia on a mission again to take artsy pictures! LOL!
See, I told ya! Only Vivian can do this!
I love them so muchy~~~!!!
Couldn't help! Just love showing off my new earrings again! :p
Woohoo~ Even the very yim chim Papo loves Snowflake! You know Vivian says it's very hard to hear Papo really say something is yummy! She said Papo is Simon Cowell, the food review version!

The other day when they reached Taiping and SMS-ed to tell me they've arrived, I replied them saying I'm missing them already and asked them to come more often. The moment I sent that SMS out, I had tears in my eyes! What drama queen I've become lar? Is it because of too much of Hindi films? Hmmmm...
I think lately because I always have to hang-out with Deardo's family, it made me felt a little uncomfortable and at the same time made me missed my own family. I was really glad that they came and I got to spend a little time with them, finally! Plus, ever since I know how satisfying it is to earn my own money and pay for gifts and food for my family, I'm always happy to give them treats! So it was a sense of achievement I guess, to be able to buy presents for them, pay for meals, etc.
Special thanks must also be given to Deardo Wong who brought us here and there and paid for meals too.
To Papo and Mamo, enjoy life more ba! We are all grown up, don't get yourself too stress anymore! :)
